We help middle and high school students with language-learning disabilities acquire the skills they need in order to be successful.
Description:
LSA is a private non-profit, full-time, day school, approved by the state of NH for special education students in grades 4-12, and general education students in all grades, culminating in a diploma. Our curriculum aligns with the NH curriculum frameworks. Teachers are NH certified, most have master's degrees, and many are certified as specialists in reading or learning disabilities. Our students are intelligent and active. They seek high-quality instruction and want to be challenged. They want teachers who welcome divergent learners of all sorts. They want to turn challenges - attention deficits, hyperactivity, learning disabilities - into learning advantages. Some just want a small school that nurtures the individual and makes learning an experience to remember.
History:
We began in Rye in 1985 and quickly grew from a half dozen students to nearly 40 students. At that point we had outgrown our facility in Rye, so we relocated to the old Sherburne Street School in Portsmouth. Eight years ago, after a management change, we relocated again to a new building in Rye. We currently serve over 20 students in a newly purchased building.
