To educate and inspire young people to imagine career options by teaching entrepreneurial financial literacy, and economics in a creative and stimulating hands-on environment.
Description:
Exchange City is a non-profit, hands-on business and economics' program for 5th through 9th graders. It combines a nationally recognized 7-week classroom curriculum with a visit to an all-day business simulation at "Exchange City", a 7,500 square foot life-size city with fifteen businesses such as Dunkin Donuts, City Hall, Bank, Wendy's, Technology Shop, etc. In Exchange City, students take on roles of business owners, entrepreneurs, employees, civil servants, public officials and consumers in a of variety stores and businesses.
History:
The original Exchange City began in 1981 and is part of the expanding, and highly successful Exchange City-USA, a national non-profit hands-on business and economics program for 5th through 9th grade students. Exchange City has proven to be a powerful tool in preparing young people for their futures as responsible, creative, and productive citizens.
