The mission of the Seacoast Consumer Alliance is to promote individual and collective empowerment, to provide the tools and atmosphere necessary to promote health, wellness and recovery. And to strive tom improve the quality of the life of our members. We run a variety of wellness groups as well as having many social and recreational activities.

Description:
We provide individual and group peer support, wellness groups, training and a full range of groups, activities, and educational, vocational opportunities for over 310 members. We have a nutrition program that teaches about the importance of nutrition and food safety, portion size and our members learn how to plan, prepare, cook, and serve and cleanup a meal. We encourage our members to stand up against stigma with a stigma busting group that works on ways of reducing stigma in society. We have over 30 groups that teach wellness, recovery and empowerment,so members can work on self help and learn their self worth. As well as basic education, introduction to computers, resume writing, hands-on office training, and techniques for employment searching, like interviewing skills, communication skills.

History:
We are a non profit agency who has been open since 1992. We have a total of 310 members who come in to our place for assistance and guidance as well as for peer support. We help them with any issues they may have/had or with meetings they have to go to, etc... We provide advocacy by accompanying members when they need someone to advocate for them. We try to encourage our members to get out into the world and live a full life, not to just exist and let life pass by. Our program has made huge differences in people's lives and we are happy to continue doing so. Programs like United Way helps us do things that we normally would not be able to afford to do.
