We honor the dead by serving the living. We are a community service organization that targets our active duty military, but are heavily involved with serving senior citizens and youth.
Description:
The Ladies Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign Wars is comprised of members who are the mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, step-sisters, step-daughters, grandmothers, and granddaughters of those who have served in the uniform of this country and have earned a decoration due to serving in a combat zone.
History:
Portsmouth Post #168 is the oldest VFW in the state of New Hampshire. We are a registered non-profit community service organization. Our post was chartered in 1919 and has been in continuous service since that time. In addition to our volunteer work with the military, we are actively involved with the Portsmouth senior citizens, the girl scouts and boy scouts, the local ROTCs and Jr. ROTCs, we help the homeless, provide scholarships for junior high and high school students and provide many volunteer hours in hospitals and schools.
