Position title: Board Member for Ethel's Tree of Life
Description: Seeking a Member for our Board of Directors! Our students at ETL excel when given an opportunity to experience new things! ETL serves youth and young adults who live with a broad spectrum of disabilities and/or special needs. Transition training in life and work skills is the organizational mission! The training is achieved through mentor and recreation based activities and opportunities, such as:
Urban Hikes: a town or city is explored on foot. Students gain site recognition skills, reach out beyond their own door steps, and learn about history and society.
Group activities: ETL has panned for gold, mined for amethyst, investigated resources at Maine CareerCenters and NH Works, and students have worked at art projects where in they create beautiful pieces like our large clay mural that was displayed at the Portland Children's Museum for a year!
Life Skills Trips: ETL students have explored places that include Old Quebec, Philadelphia, Manhattan, Niagara Falls, and Toronto! Many independent living skills are gained with these trips!
Have you a knowledge of the needs of our youth and young adults? The skills we require of our Board Members are: a willingness to work as a team, patience, the ability to stay mission specific, and a passion to continue to build a growing grassroots organization!
