The mission of SRS is to protect children and promote adult self-sufficiency. Our vision is partnering to connect Kansans with supports and services to improve lives.
Description:
The Topeka Service Center is part of the Northeast Regional SRS Office which serves a 24 county area of the state. SRS is the state's human services agency that provides publicly funded and mandated services to needy and vulnerable Kansans. Some of the services provided by the Topeka Service Center include adult and child protective services; temporary assistance for families (cash and employment); food, energy, and medical assistance; child care; child support enforcement; and rehabilitation services.
History:
SRS has evolved from a county operated public welfare system in the 1970's to a vast array of public-private partnerships designed to promote people living safe, healthy and successful lives in their homes and communities. In 2004, SRS was reorganized into the current regional offices system and has focused on integrating service delivery for more comprehensive assessment and delivery of supports to vulnerable Kansans.
