The Antioch Family Life Center, Inc. is a Christian organization set in the community to offer social services to those in need as we live out our mission "to provide a facilty within the community by which lives are enriched and enhanced by the implementation of human and social service programs. Whereby,the socially and economically disadvantaged are empowered through education and training to become self sufficient."
Description:
The Antioch Family Life Center, Inc. provides the following social services: The Arc Adventures Center(an after school school age program); Food Bank to support emergency food needs, a Clothing Bank, and partnership with Shawnee County Family Resource Ctr.providing services for alternative education to school age youth. With efforts in strategic planning by early 2009 plans are being made to also offer child care for younger children, a special mentoring program for the economic well-being of women and children; a computer lab, and a reintegration program for all ages.
History:
The Antioch Family Life Center, Inc. was founded in 1997 when the former Highland Park North Elementary school was purchased. It has served over the years in food and clothing more than ten-thousand recipients; even more individuals received counseling provided by the Mennenger Foundation who maintained a satellite service here prior to its departure from Topeka. Employment prepareness, job readiness, and computer technology were also viable programs here.
