We will, in the spirit of the Sisters of Charity, reveal God's healing love by improving the heath of the individuals and communities we serve, especially those who are poor or vulnerable.
Description:
Today, St. Francis Health Center is a voluntary, not-for-profit, 378-bed acute-care hospital. It is one of nine hospitals in the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System. The staff at St. Francis strives to provide excellence in patient care, education and community health programs. An ultra modern medical complex, St. Francis offers a wide range of medical and surgical services including open-heart surgery, day and outpatient surgery, intensive and critical care units, oncology, rehabilitation, cardiology, orthopedics, pediatrics, diabetes care, chemical dependency and home care. St. Francis also has a sleep disorders center, a renal dialysis treatment program and an eye institute that is a regional resource for extensive treatment of eye disease. Each year the staff of the Health Center cares for approximately 100,000 patients.
History:
On October 17, 1909, a new 40-bed hospital was dedicated in Topeka. It was one of many hospitals built by Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth. Since that time, St. Francis Health Center has grown considerably and has continued to serve the people of Topeka and the surrounding communities.
