Push to Walk's mission is to help improve the quality of life for people with spinal cord injuries through intensive exercise workouts.
We strive to treat all of our clients with dignity and respect in a positive atmosphere while helping them to work hard and achieve their goals.

Description:
Push to Walk is a New Jersey Nonprofit Corporation formed in January 2007 to serve the needs of people with spinal cord injuries (SCI). It is recognized as a 501(c) (3) by the IRS. Our goal is to improve the quality of life for those with spinal cord injuries through the use of intensive one-on-one exercise training as provided by specialized trainers. Specific methods of treatment and equipment are used which represent forward thinking approaches. As a Certified Facility of Project Walk in California, Push to Walk follows their protocol of treatment. Push to Walk is the first center of its kind on the East Coast, using non-traditional methods to help people with spinal cord injuries strengthen, gain function and independence with the ultimate goal of walking again.

History:
Push to Walk opened its doors on January 15, 2007 in 1000 sq ft of leased space in Bloomingdale, NJ with three clients. The business was formed as a NJ nonprofit corporation. The founders, Cynthia & John Templeton, have a son, Darren, who sustained a C5 SCI in July 2004. Upon completing traditional in-patient and out-patient rehabilitation therapy, Darren was looking for a way to improve and increase his abilities. Hiring a personal trainer and going to Project Walk in Carlsbad, CA multiple times was the beginning of the idea to start a similar program in New Jersey.
The passion to have such a program exist close to home was the driving force behind the formation of Push to Walk. It was not born from a desire to make money. It was set up as a nonprofit with three Trustees and three Members.
