The mission of the NJ Self-Help Group Clearinghouse is to help people to find and form all types of self-help groups throughout New Jersey.
Description:
The Clearinghouse maintains a computer database of over 4,500 no-fee support groups throughout NJ for most any illness, addictions, bereavement situations, mental health, disabilities, divorce, parenting, family issues, those caring of an ill family member or parent, victims of abuse, and many more. We provide this information to callers via our toll-free number (1-800-367-6274). The Clearinghouse depends heavily on our wonderful volunteers who help to answer the toll-free number. One-on-one training is provided to volunteers, and paid staff are always there to help whenever needed.
We need at least one volunteer for each 3-hour morning or afternoon shift during the week when we are open. We need volunteers who are willing to work either one morning or an afternoon shift once a week, either: 9 or 9:30am to noon or 12:30pm; or from 12:30pm or 1pm to 4:00 or 4:30pm. Currently, your choice of any of the five shifts open are: Monday AM or PM; Tuesday PM; Friday AM or PM.
The Clearinghouse also helps persons to start new groups, and maintain existing ones through free phone consultation and workshops. For more information, visit our website at www.selfhelpgroups.org or call 1-800-367-6274 or 973-989-1122 Mon-Fri., 8:30am - 5:00pm).
