Aging Services, Inc. is a nonprofit agency providing services for older adults living in Linn County. Our goal is to help the older adult in their ability to remain living independently in their own homes. Volunteerism is one of our ways to accomplish this goal.
Description:
Aging Services, Inc. provides a multitude of services to over 5000 older adults annually. Our services include: *Case Management: Social Workers provide and coordinate services which match a client's needs with available community resources. On-going education and support are offered through this program. *Milestones Adult Day Health Centers (Cedar Rapids and Marion): Milestones is a cost-effective solution to out-of-home placement providing adult day services to health-challenged individuals who may require support, supervision, and structure to remain as independent as possible. *Chore Services: Both paid contractors and volunteers provide small home repair services, home modifications,lawn mowing, and snow removal services for older adults who cannot otherwise maintain their independence in their own homes. *Volunteer Services: Volunteers provided a variety of services such as transportation, friendly visiting, home safety checks, and telephone reassurance calls. *Vision Enhancement Center: Professional staff help older adults to maintain or improve their quality of life by assisting them with the appropriate vision enhancement aid. *Education/Information and Referral: Aging Services staff, volunteers, and board members make an average of 75 community presentations each year related to the services available through Aging Services.
History:
Aging Services, Inc. is a non-profit agency established in 1969 to identify and meet the needs of older adults living in Linn County. The agency was started by a group of volunteers. From there, Aging Services has grown to a paid staff of 28 with over 1100 volunteers. The mission remains to provide services that maintain, integrate, and enhance the lives of seniors in the community.
