The Arc of East Central Iowa serves our community by providing advocacy and services which help people with cognitive disabilities and their families to choose and realize their goals in life. We work to reduce the incidence of cognitive disabilities through education and public awareness.
Description:
Service, advocacy, inclusion, family and community are what The Arc of East Central Iowa is all about. The Arc offers multiple programs and services including Respite, Supported Community Living, and Daycare in eight counties in Iowa. We deliver high quality programs that produce results. More importantly, we are improving the quality of life for individuals and families affected by mental retardation, epilepsy, autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, ADHD, and brain injury. We believe in building better lives for people with disabilities and their families.
History:
The Arc of East Central Iowa started in 1953 when families came together to gain services for their children who were affected by cognitive disabilities. Since our inception, we have worked closely with families in the community. Today, The Arc provides advocacy and service to thousands of individuals and families in east central Iowa.

The Arc of East Central Iowa is located in downtown Cedar Rapids on the corner of 7th Avenue and 2nd Street SE. The Arc is accessible from First Avenue or Interstate 380.
