Women, men, boys, and girls-people of all ages, all races, all across America-are threatened by cardiovascular disease. The American Heart Association is working to protect them from the nation's number one killer. The message is simple and empowering: Learn and Live.

The impact goal is to reduce coronary heart disease and stroke by 25 percent by 2010.

The American Heart Association is respected worldwide as the leading authority on cardiovascular science. The scientific meetings draw attendees from throughout the world; the journals are among the top publications in their respective areas and the American Heart Association sets the global standards for emergency cardiovascular care materials.
The American Heart Association is second only to the US government in the amount of funds committed to cardiovascular research funding and this funding has led to life-saving discoveries as CPR, bypass surgery and life-extending drugs.
The American Heart Association award-winning website and public education materials provide important risk-reduction information for the public.
It is also deeply involved in advocacy at the local, state and national levels to safeguard the public health from cardiovascular disease.
