The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics serves as the teaching hospital and comprehensive health care center for the State of Iowa, thereby promoting the health of Iowans regardless of their ability to pay. Volunteers help to improve the experience of our patients, families, visitors and staff alike.
Description:
The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in concert with the University of Iowa health science colleges, functions in support of health care professionals and organizations in Iowa and other states by:
- offering a broad spectrum of clinical services to all patients cared for within the Center and through its outreach programs;
- serving as the primary teaching hospital for the University; and,
- providing a base for innovative research to improve health care.
Our volunteers work to improve the experience of our patients, families, visitors and staff alike.
History:
We are creating history at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics! Since 1898 we have consistently been recognized as one of the best hospitals in the United States, and we are Iowa's only comprehensive, tertiary-level health care center.
