United Action for Youth is a non-profit organization with youth, parents, and the local community to provide services for all teenagers 12-18 years old. It is a place for youth to have a voice and give back creatively to their community.
Description:
From three facilities located near downtown Iowa City, through programs offered at area schools and agencies and around the community, UAY provides many opportunities for youth. Our Teen Parent Program provides a comprehensive array of services to young families in Johnson County. UAY's Youth Development programs give teenagers an opportunity to gain self-esteem, skills and leadership. UAY also offers counseling 365 days a year, 24 hours a day for youth, parents & families. Please visit our website for more information on these programs and more.
History:
The foundation of UAY's approach to opening doors for youth in our community is the principle of Unconditional Positive Regard: Respecting yourself, respecting others, embracing differences. These values are an integral part of all our programs, and the starting point for any interaction with our clients, volunteers, staff, parents and partners in the community since our founding in 1970.
