Vision: We enrich our community by creating opportunities for people to connect with the energy and spirit of the horse.

Mission: We foster personal achievement by providing diverse equestrian activities with therapeutic, educational and recreational benefits for persons with disabilities.

Description:
Miracles in Motion provides a safe, adaptive environment in which our students can reach their individual goals. Confidence, independence, increased attention span and self-pride are a few of the noted benefits that parents and students note each session. Volunteers become more aware of the issues facing people with disabilities in our community and become more sensitive to their needs. This awareness spreads as our volunteers share their perspectives with their families, friends and co-workers.

Programming includes: Therapeutic riding classes in which students gain riding skills and work on group and individual goals; the Leg Up equestrian activities program for "at-risk" youth where area teens learn stable management, riding and sportsmanship skills; the Mercy Rehabilitation Center and the St Luke’s Hospital Hippotherapy program in which specially trained physical and occupational therapists work one-on-one with clients to improve their functional ability; and our therapeutic driving classes in which students learn the art of driving a pony and cart.

History:
Miracles in Motion began in 1988 with six students and six borrowed horses. Today, we serve approximately 170 participants per year at our fully accessible 76-acre facility. Miracles in Motion is one of 700 therapeutic riding centers in the U.S. accredited by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and one of only two accredited therapeutic riding centers in Iowa.
