National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI) Seattle moves individuals and organizations towards a just, inclusive society through training and leadership development.
Description:
NCBI Seattle is a non-profit, grassroots organization that provides anti-oppression and organizational development training organizations, community groups, and community members at large. Since 1993, we have worked with non-profit, educational, youth, municipal and federal organizations in western Washington. As a result of our work, NCBI was selected as a "Best Practice" by the "President's Initiative on Race" in the United States. NCBI Seattle also provides extensive leadership development opportunities to its members. The Seattle Chapter of NCBI is currently comprised of over thirty active volunteer members. These chapter members provide consistent effort and resource in furthering the work of NCBI Seattle through leading workshops and focus groups, organizing fundraising events, and introducing NCBI principles to their work and social networks. In return, NCBI Seattle provides opportunities for its chapter members to develop their leadership skills. Chapter members are invited to participate in local and international constituency gatherings, have opportunities to attend regular international skill-building conferences with NCBI members from around the world, and regularly participate in local activities to improve their skills and knowledge. NCBI offers community workshops such as: Building Bridges I and II, Effective Communication Skills, Ending Violence, and Healing White Racism. In addition, we provide organizations with programs and consulting in the following areas: anti-oppression, conflict resolution, teambuilding, prejudice reduction, ally skills, effective communication, coalition building, facilitation, and establishing support networks.
