NextStepsNW maximizes health, wellness and quality of life for individuals with paralysis through specialized exercise recovery therapy and wellness programs.
Description:
A local non profit recovery facility, NextStepsNW provides intensive recovery therapy for those suffering from injury, condition or disease resulting in paralysis. Clients participate in two or three day-a-week programs with staff educated in Exercise Science and personal training. These therapists utilize their knowledge in athletics to increase movement and stability.
History:
In 2001 a local businessman, Al Northrup, suffered a spinal cord injury in a car accident. After years of trying to find a northwest facility that catered to the needs of people with paralysis. His vision to create a recovery facility was realized when he opened the doors to NextStepsNW in April 2005. Since it's inception, NextStepsNW has been receiving clients from all over the Northwest, with even international inquiries. NextStepsNW is funded by it's clients, private donations, corporations and foundations.
