Vision Statement: Hope, Home, and Education for every child, one family at a time.
Mission Statement:To educate and nurture children whose families struggle with the reality of homelessness. We offer housing, culturally relevant education and support services enabling families to achieve permanent stability.

Description:
First Place is a private, non-profit school and social service agency devoted to helping children and families who are vulnerable due to being in transition, in crisis, or homeless. First Place provides quality education in a safe K through 6 classroom setting for the children and counseling and case management for the families. We provide volunteer opportunities for those who are interested in working with the children. We also provide a after school enrichment and tutoring program 3 days a week to help educate the students.

History:
First Place was incorporated in February 1989 and opened its doors that same year to 5 homeless children on the morning of April 10th. At that time, if you did not have a permanent address, you could not register for school. First Place was started to address that need in the community. The first full school year began in September of 89.
