Our mission is to empower children with positive skills that will help them become capable adults. To assist is fostering confidence and autonomy, self-reliance and independence.
Description:
We are a state licensed program. We keep our staff to child ratios within the limits, which are follows: 12 months to 2 years old is 1:7, the 3 to 5 year old is 1:10, the 5 to 12 year old is 1:15. We have a capacity for 71 children. The children are offered a wide range of activities varying from art projects, group games, cooking projects, gardening etc. The curriculum used is called "The Creative Curriculum." We have a child centered environment where the children's wants and interest are above our own. We have a staff that is made up of people with Early Childhood Education background and people with hands on experience in other child care settings. Our abilities as a staff may vary in their own strengths and weaknesses, but we can all agree that we are here for the children and it is their development we are nurturing.
History:
My experience includes running an accredited Family Home Childcare facility for twelve years prior to opening From Roots to Wings. Our center has been operating for 10 years and has been inspected by a state licensor and meets the minimum licensing requirements as required by Washington State Law.
