An on-site Montessori Early Education Lab School at Ballard High in Seattle. The Dept. of Family and Consumer Sciences,The Maria Montessori Language and Cultural Center,(MMLCC),and Seattle Public Schools are partners in this innovative collaborative effort . Our Lab School provides opportunities for high school students to observe and assist in the environment guided by trained early childhood specialists.

Description:
Our non profit organization provides a child care program for 3-5year- olds.We offer a morning program from8:30am until noon and an extended day until 3pm.Tuesdays and Wednesdays we offer after -school programs in Mandarin Chinese and Italian. In 2005,the MMLCC invited the Northwest Center for Compassionate Communication to introduce Marshal Rosenberg's Nonviolent Communication Model into our work in the Lab School.In addition,we have added a literacy program :Motheread/Fatheread..... Both of these community partners are contributing essential skills needed to build healthy human relationships These shared skills can be brought into family and community life.

History:
We are an educational organization. In September 2000,we were classified as a public charity. In 2003,we wrote a proposal to Seattle Public Schools and become partners through the Community Alignment Initiative. We provide the first child care lab in Seattle where high school students raise awareness of the Montessori approach to education. Since we began our work,several high school graduates have been inspired to continue their studies in the areas of social studies,health sciences,and educational psychology
