Rite of Passage Journeys honors life transitions through intentional rite of passage experiences for youth and adults. Our programs use experiential learning activities designed to foster self-discovery, connection with others and the natural world. In the spirit of creating community and increasing the availability of rite of passage experiences, we also train others in rite of passage program development, methodology, and mentorship. At Rite of Passage Journeys, our vision is that all Americans, at every change of life stage, will experience a rite of passage supported by their community.
History:
Rite of Passage Journeys has been impacting the lives of youth and adults for the last 40 years. Journeys originally grew out of the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), an organization that places a strong emphasis on the establishment of community as a tool for creating a vibrant, healthy society. Recently Journeys parted ways with ICA and has emerged as its own nonprofit corporation. Journeys is now in a time of dramatic transition. Along with the change to nonprofit status a newly-incorporated board has emerged and a new Executive Director, Darcy Ottey, has stepped up to fill the role of long time Director, Stan Crow. We look forward to guiding individuals through life transitions for another 40 years!
