Chamber Music Madness provides inspirational chamber music experiences for young people from Western Washington and beyond. Students learn the art of ensemble playing and performance, and develop an appreciation of the great literature of chamber music.
Description:
Chamber Music Madness offers a variety of programs designed to instill in young people a life-long love of music and the values of responsibility and teamwork in a supportive and fun environment. Programs include coached sight-reading workshops, a two-week residential summer camp (Camp Nirvana), a program of coached committed ensembles, and a public school outreach program. These programs primarily serve the Puget sound region, with additional students coming from other Northwest areas.
History:
Founded in 2000 by our Executive Director, Karen Iglitzin, previously first violinist of the Philadelphia String Quartet, Chamber Music Madness has grown from an annual enrollment of 25 students to approximately 250 students. We have a waiting list for our student programs. A scholarship program assists students with financial needs.
