To manage and develop a community-owned public garden with a plant collection that provides a sense of refuge in a beautiful environment and demonstrates best practices in the selection and arrangement of plants and in the conservation of the environment.
Description:
The Highline Botanical Garden Foundation's public garden is called the Highline-SeaTac Botanical Garden and is located in SeaTac just north of the SeaTac International Airport. The Garden contains the Paradise Garden, a cottage and shade featuring NW plants, Rose, Iris and Daylilly areas, and the Seike Japanese Garden. The Garden is open from 9:00 until 7:00 each day and is free to visitors. It provides a peaceful and beautiful setting for visitors.
History:
Begun in late 1999, the Highline Botanical Garden Foundation was formed by community volunteers initially to preserve the Paradise Garden from demolition related to the third runway, and since that time to provide a place of beauty and refuge for the community.
