"Creating Community, Preserving Culture, and Strengthening Business"

Description:
Our Goal is to drive strong vitality to the historic DownTown Cultural and Business District. We host many pleasurable events which bring regional and community guests into the downtown area to enjoy time with family and friends.

We are always looking for fun, energetic individuals who want to participate and help out while enjoying our great Historic DownTown and meeting new people.

History:
DownTown Issaquah Association was originally formed as Main Street Issaquah in 1995. Main Street was originally formed when the Commons Shopping Center and Pickering Center were first created to assist down town businesses to deal with the impacts of these new shopping centers. Main Street has worked over the years with DownTown businesses and the City of Issaquah to enhance the vitality of the historical DownTown area.

In 2005 Main Street Issaquah became the DownTown Issaquah Association.

For 10 years, the Council for Historic DownTown Issaquah, doing business as, DownTown Issaquah Association (DIA), has been a leader in the community, promoting historic down town Issaquah as a wonderful place to work, live and play. DIA creates many programs and participates in activities that are effective in improving the appearance of DownTown Issaquah and promoting economic growth, including attracting tourists and shoppers. These programs range from seasonal ArtWalks to working to ensure pedestrian safety by providing crossing flags at intersections.

Another focus for the DownTown Issaquah Association is the restoration and preservation of historic structures in the DownTown. Studies have shown that investing money, time and energy in programs that focus on property design, building preservation, promotions and economic restructuring creates down towns that are safer, more valuable and more economically prosperous.
