RCS Ministries (RCSM) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit faith-based community service organization dedicated to serving individuals in youth detention centers, prisons, missions and shelters to effect positive holistic change in their lives, and to serve the community as a facilitator of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention education. We seek to serve all who are in need, regardless of race religion or lifestyle choices.
Description:
RCSM has declared war on recidivism and HIV/AIDS. We are in the fight for the lives of countless people in Washington State. About 97 percent of incarcerated men and women will one day complete their sentences and be released to the community. Without successful efforts to resolve their individual deficits, many will return to lives of crime. The goal of RCSM is to prevent that from happening. As an American Red Cross Authorized Provider of HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention education RCS Ministries is working to position our community to win this battle. Education and testing are our best defenses against the spread of this devastating disease. RCSM provides training throughout the community and has partnered with a major health care provider to bring free HIV/AIDS screening to the community.
History:
RCSM held its first board meeting in April 2006. We continue to be an organization run solely by volunteer staff. Since that time we have facilitated HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention education to more than 2000 people in the community. Each month we reach more than 400 incarcerated and homeless adults and children.
