Our mission is to promote healthy citizens and communities by encouraging the enhancement and development of park and recreation resources for this and future generations.
Description:
We work collaboratively with agencies, local business leaders, user groups and funding organizations to support parks, pools, trails, playfields, and other active recreation facilities. We have established partnerships with several city park departments within King County, and hope to expand our Parks Safety Net Fund which supports the parks within communities.
History:
We were founded as "Friends of King County Parks" in 2002 as part of an effort to assist King County in keeping their parks open during the budget crisis. Since then, we recognized that all area park departments and user groups were in need, therefore, we changed our name to Northwest Parks Foundation to broaden our base of philanthropy.
