To assist individuals and families in finding hope and healing when confronting the pain of domestic violence and related issues. We have several areas for volunteers to contribute of their time and talents. These include both direct service (working with clients) and support service (office administration, special events, fund raising, web and computer support, yard work, etc).
Description:
NW Family Life has two areas, Advocacy and Support as well as Treatment and Counseling. Advocacy and Support provides crisis assistance for women and children as well as support groups. Treatment and Counseling includes perpetrators treatment program and individual and family counseling.
History:
NW Family Life was incorporated as a non profit in 1989, registered as Greater Seattle Domestic Violence Project (DVP) Learning Center. From 1990-93 we received several grants that allowed for capital purchases and new programs, such as Chemical Dependency, Victims and Children. In 1994 the name was changed to Northwest Family Life Learning and Counseling Center and Nancy Murphy became our Executive Director.
