We are a committed non-profit corporation dedicated to assisting residents to overcome economic and educational barriers by promoting and expanding access to computer technology in low-income housing communities. We envision a community in which people, regardless of economic or educational status, have equal access to computer technology.
Description:
Digital Promise is a Neighborhood Networks consortium born out of a commitment to increase access to technology among low-income residents. We provide assistance to affordable housing developments so they can establish computer centers for their residents. We work with families, seniors, unemployed people, and children.
History:
Digital Promise incorporated in 1997 and has provided an array of services to technology centers throughout Washington State. The organization has been on the cutting edge of the community technology movement and has mastered the art of bringing technology to low-income housing developments. The fruit of Digital Promise's labor can be seen in the more than 50 community technology centers operating in the state. Over the years, Digital Promise has distributed an estimated $100,000 in hardware, equipment, software, and technical assistance.
