Ivory Coast Medical Relief Team (ICMRT) is dedicated to providing medical assistance to the displaced and refugee populations of the Ivory Coast.
ICMRT intends to fulfill this goal by providing medical supplies to these populations through partner-organizations with established channels of distribution.
ICMRT and its partner organizations are committed to providing assistance to those in need regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion or political affiliation.

Description:
ICMRT is a local community-based organization with an all volunteer board. We are based in Shoreline, WA. ICMRT collects money through charity events throughout the year and all the money collected goes toward securing medicines container shipments to the Ivory Coast. We rely on 501.c.3. partner-organization in the Ivory Coast to distribute medicines obtained throughout Ivory Coast.

History:
ICMRT was created in the aftermath of the violent coup attempt of September 19 2002. While the coup was a failure, the northern half of the country was occupied by the rebel group, who, in the process, severely damaged government-controlled health care facilities. The country's overall health care system was also damaged and this left many of the most vulnerable Ivorians without primary health care. The prevalence of diseases such as AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis has significantly increased. ICMRT has each year since 2003 had an annual fundraiser in the Fall, a Pool Party at the end of the school year and occasionally garage sales, T-shirt sales etc. We have shipped 4 containers of medicines worth over $ 6 million. Our medicines are high quality and have been able to make a difference in the lives of many throughout the Ivory Coast. ICMRT is working to make a difference in malaria prevention with sustainable programs combining insecticide treated bednets distribution, environment control and education programs.
