The Giving Tree is a non-profit wood shop. We make toys in an environment that fosters a renewed sense of purpose and meaning for seniors, formerly and currently homeless individuals, youth and adults within the greater community. The toys we make are either sold to the public or donated to children in need.

Description:
Volunteers at the Giving Tree do all tasks necessary in operation of a small business making and selling toys (and donating them to local children's organizations too); including cutting wooden toys, sanding, varnishing, painting, and toy assembling, as well as customer service, data entry, and simple marketing. We work together in a manner that cultivates respect and dignity, empowering volunteers to use individual talents for the common good.
No experience necessary--there's something for everyone.

History:
The Giving Tree woodshop was opened in 1989 along with St Martin's on Westlake(The Westlake), a service-enriched housing facility for formerly homeless men age 55 and over, as a means for the residents to "give back" to the community through craft work. Since then we have opened our doors to the greater community welcoming talented souls of all ages and backgrounds.
