Scribner's Mill Preservation, Inc.
[ View Opportunity ]
Last updated on June 1, 2008

Scribner's Mill Preservation's mission is to restore an 1847 Saw Mill as an operating mill museum. When it is operational, it will be used to demonstrate the early lumbering industry and provide educational opportunities for primary and secondary education programs.

Description:
Scribner's Mill Preservation is a volunteer membership organization. Volunteers serve on the board of directors, work on the restoration, demonstrate or help with the annual fund raiser "Back to the Past at Scribner's Mill"; and use professional skills for publicity, communications and grant writing.

History:
Scribner's Mill was operated by the Scribner family from 1850 to 1962. Jesse Scribner was the miller from 1884 (age 14)to 1962 (age 92). Scribner's Mill Preservation was established in 1975 to bring the mill back to life after it had been idle for 13 years. Restoration of the site, which has multiple buildings, has been ongoing since that time with volunteer labor and membership support.
