Purrfect Pals is a nonprofit, no-kill cat shelter and sanctuary committed to rescuing and placing cats and kittens in loving, responsible homes. We help place special needs cats and provide a comfortable long-term sanctuary for cats diagnosed with Feline leukemia and FIV positive cats. We also offer low cost spays/neuters for cats to low income individuals and families.
Description:
Purrfect Pals is the Northwest's largest cat-only adoption organization, saving the lives of more than 2,500 homeless cats every year. Our Arlington, Washington no-kill shelter is home to more than 200 adoptable cats, special-needs cats, and a sanctuary for feral cats. We also adopt cats through 20 partner stores from Mt. Vernon to Federal Way. We are a nonprofit facility and rely heavily on the dedication and commitment of our core volunteers.
History:
Purrfect Pals was founded in 1986 by Kathy Centala, who began boarding homeless cats in her Brier, Washington home. The community quickly realized the need for a no-kill shelter and over the next few years, Purrfect Pals was formed as a nonprofit organization. In the fall of 1993, Purrfect Pals was moved to its current location in Arlington, Washington. With the help of volunteers and the addition of off-site adoption partners, adoptions soared and have averaged well over 2,000 a year for nearly 5 years. Volunteers are still the heart of the organization, doing the majority of the fundraising and special events as well as helping with cleaning, cat socialization, adoptions, office assistance and yard work.
