Gilda's Club Seattle provides a meeting place where men, women and children living with cancer, along with their families and friends, join with others to build social and emotional support as a supplement to medical care.

Description:
Free of charge and non profit, Gilda's Club Seattle offers support and networking groups, lectures, workshops and social events in a nonresidential, home like setting. Funding is solicited from private individuals, corporations, and foundations.

History:
We are named after Gilda Radner, Saturday Night Live comedienne in the 1970's. Gilda died of ovarian cancer in 1989. Before her death she asked that a social and emotional support community be started on the east coast. Joanna Bull, her psychotherapist, and her husband, Gene Wilder, developed the Gilda's Club philosophy based on the Wellness Community and raised the necessary funds to open the first Gilda's Club in New York City in 1995. There are currently 15 Gilda's Club opened throughout the United States with two locations in Canada.
