Camp Fire USA builds caring, confident youth and future leaders.
Description:
Camp Fire USA helps today's kids become tomorrow's leaders. Our programs offer opportunities for boys and girls preschool through high school to get prepared for the real world. Youth learn responsibility and how to work in a small group. Kids also are encouraged to explore the world, be creative, give community service, make choices, develop lifelong friendships, and have fun. We have a few different programs run by volunteers:
The Club Program - youth members participate in regular meetings with a small group of kids the same age to make new friends try new things and have fun.
Self Reliance Classes - youth from the same age group meet for several consecutive weeks to complete a fun course that will teach them about healthy lifestyles, safety, and encourage kids to make smart choices.
See our webpage to read about our programs in more detail.
History:
In 1910, Camp Fire was the first youth organization open to everyone regardless or their race or religion. Camp Fire has been serving youth of Snohomish County since 1930 when it used to be Camp Fire Girls. In 1941 Camp Fire purchased Camp Killoqua on Crabapple Lake in Stanwood for day and resident camp. In 1975 Camp Fire opened its programs to include boys. Now Camp Killoqua has become a year round facility with Outdoor Education programs, and awesome facilities for youth groups and Group Retreats. 50% of the youth we serve are now boys.
