Washington Trails Association is a volunteer-driven non-profit membership organization working since 1966 to preserve, enhance, and promote hiking opportunities in Washington state through collaboration, education, advocacy, and trail maintenance.

Description:
We believe that in addition to recreational value, our natural areas provide spiritual, economic, and environmental benefits for all people. We are committed to preserving this rich heritage for current and future generations. We do a lot of trail work all over Washington state all throughout the year.

History:
It started in 1966 with the Signpost magazine. This has been published almost monthly since. In 1992 the trail maintenance program was started and has grown a lot since then. In the first year, we did just over a thousand hours of volunteer work and in 2002 we did over 66,000 hours of volunteer work.

Overall Experience    Experience rating
Great way to contribute to the trails you love
I have participated on several trail crews over the years and they are alwaya a rewarding experience. WTA emphasises safety as well as fun and understands everyone are volunteers. WTA in someway contributes to a majority of the trail maintenance done in our area, compensating for the underfunded state/federal agencies. WTA is a well organized and effcient organization making good use of volunteer time and donations. Come help and enjoy a rewarding day on a trail...
