Food Lifeline is a non-profit food distribution agency dedicated to ending hunger in Western Washington. Food Lifeline provides the creative link between food sources and hungry people. Through its network of more than 250 neighborhood food banks, hot meal programs and shelters, Food Lifeline helps provide food for more than 670,000 people in Western Washington.

Description:
Food Lifeline makes every penny count. For every donated dollar Food lifeline can secure and distribute 8.5 pounds of food- the equivalent of six meals. Local, state and national donors make this possible. Local restaurants and caterers contribute addition food through Food Lifeline's innovative "Seattle's Table" program. Fresh produce is collected from local produce wholesalers and retailers and distributed through the "Produce for the People" program. Food Lifeline is also the designated agency distribution of state and federal food commodities in King County, a member of America's Second Harvest national food bank network and a United Way partner agency

History:
Food Lifeline was incorporated in 1979 to address the challenge of handling large quantities of donations neighborhood-based programs were unable to handle. In 1982 Food Lifeline became an affiliate of the Second Harvest national food bank network.
