Starlight Children's Foundation mission is to brighten the lives of seriously ill children and their families through innovative programs that empower, educate, entertain, and inspire.

Description:
For seriously ill children and those who love them, Starlight provides innovative, creative, fun, and educational "entertainment therapies" and recreational opportunities that bring lasting joy and enrichment. Starlight provides an impressive menu of both in-hospital and outpatient programs and services which touch the lives of over 50,000 children each year in Washington State.

History:
Starlight Children's Foundation is a merger of two Foundations that took place in July 2004.
Starlight was formed in the early eighties by a group Hollywood professionals who firmly believed in the healing benefits of entertainment and diversion. Starlight's programming provides distractive entertainment and recreational opportunities for sick children & their families. Our programs can be found in hospitals and throughout the community.
Starbright was founded in 1990 by Peter Samuelson. His vision was dedicated to the development of media and technology-driven, research based projects that empower seiously ill children to better manage their diease, and cope with the social and emotional challenges that accompany illness.
Together Starlight will synergize the capabilites and resources of each organization in order to serve more seriously ill children with higher quality programs and services.

Starlight's 6 programs:

Bring joy & laughter and restore happiness,
Include the entire family,
Combat isolation and reduce anxiety,
Alleviate stress & loneliness,
Reduce the need for pain medication,
Counter depression
Create quality family time and construct community,
Offer hope and provide regular childhood experiences
For sick kids and their families.
