O U R M I S S I O N is to provide healthful, affordable food in a safe and dignified atmosphere, while creating a community of respect.

Description:
Boomtown is a non-profit restaurant serving breakfast and lunch at the cost of the ingredients. Breakfast is $1.75 and lunch is $2.00. Patrons have the option of paying with cash, food stamps, or in exchange for 15 minutes of work in the cafe.

Boomtown will re-open to serve Saturday brunch in September at a temporary location. Stay Tuned

History:
Boomtown Cafe began in 1995 as a non-profit restaurant serving affordable and nutritious food to Seattle’s homeless and low-income residents and workers. What sets Boomtown apart from other feeding programs is that it offers a value exchange to its customers. If a customer is not able to pay full price for a meal, they can either use their food stamp cards or pay .50 cents and work in the Café in exchange for their meal. We believe in the opportunity for people to contribute to society and the Café provides an empowering experience for everyone. We are the only non-profit restaurant in the State of Washington operating under this business model.

The Café creates an atmosphere that is welcoming to diners of diverse incomes and lifestyles and provides the dignity of a restaurant meal at a very low cost. Since our closure, Boomtown has received an overwhelming outpouring of community support. In just one week, Seattle citizens came forward with donations totaling nearly $32,000 to get Boomtown up and running again. Clearly, the Seattle community knows that Boomtown is an invaluable community asset that we can’t afford to lose. Building on the momentum of these generous gifts, we are mobilizing an effort to reopen the café with vim, vigor and the tenacity. It will take many hands to sustain this wonderful community asset and we are calling on our generous supporters to help us re-open. DONATE TODAY and help us continue to show that everyone has value, we can all make a positive contribution to our community and that every person must be given the opportunity to live a life of DIGNITY!

To our valued customers and supporters,

The Boomtown Cafe Staff and Board of Directors are working very hard on re-opening efforts. We are moving locations and will be temporarily housed at the Millionair Club Charity. There will be some great opportunities in the next couple of months to get involved in fundraising.

Thanks to a generous donation of space, Tom Douglas has given us the Palace Ballroom for a special session of Evenings For Boomtown in July and August. The website will be updated regularly with information, please stay tuned and contact me personally with any questions.

I want to share my enthusiasm and hope for Boomtown. I hear from people every day who are behind our mission and our value in the community. I am very excited to be on board and I know with your support we will open and once again create a space of dignity and respect.
