Building a community where all people, especially the young, are encouraged to develop their fullest potential in spirit, mind and body. We build strong kids, strong families and strong communities.
Description:
The Lake Heights Family YMCA is located in the Newport Hills, between Factoria and Newcastle. The YMCA serves community members of Bellevue, Issaquah, and Renton school districts. We belong to the Association of the YMCA of Greater Seattle, which recently celebrated its 125th year anniversary of service. It is the goal of the Lake Heights Family YMCA to offer quality programs and services that meet the needs of every member of a family. We center all of our program activities on the six core values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Caring, Faith and Fun.
History:
In 1876, Catherine Maynard gathered a group of young Seattle pioneers including Dexter Horton and Rolland Denny in her parlor to discuss concerns over the future of their city. Out of that meeting came a dream of a new YMCA organization, which would build strong kids, strong families and a strong community. The dream of Seattle's first families has been passed from generation to generation. For over a century, the YMCA of Greater Seattle has played a vital role in the life of our growing and expanding community. The involvement of thousands of volunteers enables the YMCA to meet ever-changing community needs with creative and innovative services to build strength in spirit, mind and body.
