Inglewood Residential and Community Services
Last updated on July 8, 2008

The philosophy of Inglewood Residential and Community Services is that all citizens, regardless of their abilities or disabilities, have the right to live in a home with others and to lead as normal a life as possible. It is the intention of the Board of Directors of Inglewood that this home will provide a stable, secure base for the residents.

Description:
The agency provides residential care and support for adults with developmental disabilities in a group home and supportive living program. The Group Home serves 6 severely handicapped adults, and the Supportive Living Program is home to 4 adults.

History:
In 1965 two very enthusiastic and enterprising young women, Barbara Cook and Bella Lindberg, opened Inglewood School at Inglewood Presbyterian Church in Bothell with five students. The demand for these services was great, and at the end of the first year, there were 13 students. By 1976, the "Education for All" bill became effective, and children with developmental disabilities started attending public schools. After the summer program in 1976, Inglewood School was closed and negotiations began for the acquisition of a home in Bothell for the purposes of providing a family setting for seven or eight people of varying ages with developmental disabilities. In September of 1978 Inglewood Group Home was opened with Barbara Cook as Administrator. The Group Home currently serves as home for six persons with developmental disabilities. Although all the residents are now adults, most of them have lived in the home since they were children. In 1999, the agency started a Supported Living Program.
