Multi-Service Center (MSC) is a Community Action Agency committed to its mission of helping people achieve greater self-sufficiency and exercise self-determination.
Description:
Multi-Service Center is a single stop for a variety of programs designed to support the basic needs of individuals and families while teaching them how to become independent. We operate the Federal Way Food Bank, the South King County Clothing Bank; an Energy Assistance Program funded by federal and Puget Sound Energy funds; a Literacy program that includes GED, Adult Basic Education, ESL and more; Employment Assistance, Emergency and Transitional Housing for families and single adults in recovery, as well as permanent low income housing for seniors, families and individuals. MSC also operates the Washington State Long Term Care Ombudsman Program, assisting residents and their families residing in licensed skilled nursing, adult family and assisted living facilities to resolve care issues.
History:
MSC was formed in 1971 by a concerned grass-root group of local citizens in Federal Way. It has grown from a tiny volunteer group to an agency that this past year has served approximately 36,000 individuals, employs a staff of 55 and a volunteer force of over 800.
