Volunteers for Outdoor Washington (VOW) trains our volunteers to be stewards of the environment. We partner with land managers to build trails, restore habitat, and preserve Washington State's rich heritage.
Description:
VOW performs trail maintenance and construction, habitat restoration, youth development and heritage preservation and education. We hold work parties on trails in the Cascades and in urban parks and greenbelts around Puget Sound. To accomplish our work we partner with national and state agencies, and local governments, businesses and other community organizations. Trail work can be hard work, but it's also very rewarding. A work party is a great way to meet people, learn a skill and have a lot of fun. No experience is required; we only ask for interest and enthusiasm. Join us!
History:
Twenty years ago VOW was created by outdoor enthusiasts who saw that their beloved trail system was in disrepair. A lot of users and few dollars for trails resulted in trails being loved to death. This threat continues today. Volunteers, therefore, are critical to maintaining our trail network and green spaces, and over the years VOW has moved dirt on nearly 200 trails - probably one in your neighborhood.
