(Kirkland Interfaith Transitions in Housing) KITH partners with families and individuals on the Eastside who are facing a homelessness crisis and seeks to assist them in regaining their capacity for self-determination.

Description:
KITH owns 16 units of permanent low-income housing and four units of transitional housing. Families placed in these units sign a case management contract and work in cooperation with the case manager to address the causes of their homelessness and to regain their ability to be independent. KITH also make use of one unit of private market housing for transitional housing. KITH provides case management services for an additional 12 families in transitional housing via a contract with Housing At the Crossroads. KITH also works with a average of 150 families offering resource, referral services and other assistance. KITH sponsors a community supper held each week at the Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Kirkland.

History:
KITH was founded in Kirkland in 1988 in response to Eastside homeless needing housing resources. In 1993 with the assistance of Kirkland, King County and Washington state KITH purchased a 12 plex in Juanita. In 2002 a 4plex was purchased with private funds. In 2002 KITH worked with Sound Families/Gates Foundation, ARCH, King County, Master Builders and the King County Housing Authority to purchase a rehab 4plex.
