The Teacher Resource Centers are part of World Vision's Storehouse programs, providing free school supplies to schools and teachers in the greater Seattle and Tacoma area. These school supplies help bridge the gap for students in need in the Northwest, giving them the tools they need to succeed in learning.
Description:
The Teacher Resource Centers thrive as a partnership with the Boeing Bluebills, retired Boeing employees who volunteer and provide much of the skill and labor needed to run the center. There are currently 2 area Teacher Resource Centers - one in Seattle at 3333 Rainier Ave. South and one in Kent at 8002 S. 212th St. With the assistance of many dedicated partners and generous donors, these centers serve over 130 area schools, providing free school supplies for kids who need them.
History:
Founded in 1950, World Vision is a Christian relief and development organization dedicated to helping children and their communities worldwide reach their full potential by tackling the causes of poverty. World Vision works in nearly 100 countries, including the United States. Motivated by our faith in Jesus, we serve the poor—regardless of a person’s religion, race, ethnicity, or gender—as a demonstration of God’s unconditional love for all people. The first Teacher Resource Center in this area was established in September 1999 in the Seattle/Tacoma area and has grown and expanded its reach ever since.
