The City of Covington is a place where community, businesses, and civic leaders work together with citizens to perserve and foster a strong sense of community.

Description:
City of Covington offices consist of our Executive Office staff who assist the City Manager and are responsible for greeting the visitors and clients; City Clerk and Public Information Officer keep the public informed and assist the City Council members; Police are contracted from King County Sheriff's office with a Police Chief on staff in Covington; Community Development is the heart of the business as they issue permits, examine building plans, conduct building inspections, code enforcement, and support the Planning Commission; Finance Dept; Public Works and Emergency Management oversee the Maintenance Crew, Engineers, and construction inspection for Capital Improvement Projects; Parks and Recreation is housed at the Covington Aquatics Center and provides Recreation and Aquatics Coordinator and Aquatics Supervisor.

History:
The City was incorporated in 1997 and has quickly become a growing city with a population of 17,200. Our residents consist of a mix of old and new, with 34% of the population are under 18 years of age. We have a rich history that has been preserved by the Historical Society.
