To provide legal representation to individuals that are low-income in King County.
Description:
The Defender Association is seeking volunteers to conduct criminal investigations on behalf of public defender clients. Training and supervision is provided to volunteers. The training takes places quarterly with the next training starting September 24th, 2008. Training spans over six business days from 1-5pm. There is a minimum three month twenty hour a week commitment. Please call 206-447-3900 ext. 692 for an application and information packet. Information can also be downloaded at www.defender.org.
History:
The Defender Association was started in 1969 as part of the Model Cities Program and has grown to an agency that has 80+ attorneys. The Defender Association represents individuals that have been accused of crimes in King County, in addition to representing individuals in dependency and civil commitments matters.
