The Urban Forestry program's mission is to administer, maintain, protect, and expand the City's urban landscape in street right-of-ways for Seattle's residents and businesses so that environmental, aesthetic, and safety benefits are maximized.
Description:
SDOT Urban Forestry works with citizens, business, volunteers, and other City departments to plant and care for the trees and landscapes within the street right of way. Seattle has over 100,000 street trees, 900 planted traffic circles, and miles of landscape areas along arterial streets and in neighborhoods. We also help to administer the Heritage Tree Program in partnership with PlantAmnesty. We rely on the dedicated assistance of over 1,000 volunteers who either volunteer for the first time or choose to organize and manage a project. Our volunteer opportunities are all over town and range in difficulty depending upon your expertise and interest.
