Art with Heart's mission is to empower youth in crisis through therapeutic books and programs that foster self-expression

Description:
We provide valuable human services in the form of non-traditional critical mental health support to youth facing emotional distress, providing them with the means to express their suffering and strength, increasing social and emotional development.

OODLES OF DOODLES: This therapeutic art therapy activity book is designed specifically for hospitalized children. To date, Oodles has helped over 20,000 children across North America. Make-A-Wish regularly uses the books as part of their outreach to newly diagnosed patients.

CHILL & SPILL: This guided therapeutic journal is designed to help teens and 'tweens dealing with heavy emotional burdens due to stressors, ranging from family dysfunction, natural disaster, violence, etc. The twenty activities are based on cognitive behavioral, narrative and art therapies, and each are followed by blank pages for exploration of feelings. After Hurricane Katrina, school counselors utilized the journal to help kids who were dealing with PTSD.

ART BUDDY: Our classes and books empower artists, writers and designers to use their creative talent to engage and encourage disenfranchised youth in their own community through positive self expression

SIBLING SUPPORT BOOK PROJECT: Due out in 2008, this book meets the emotional needs of siblings of disabled or seriously ill children. It will help them sort out conflicting emotions such as resentment, jealousy, grief, guilt and anger through activities that support positive therapeutic expression.

History:
Art with Heart was established in 1996 as a community outreach branch of the Seattle Chapter of the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA), and became a 501(c)3 organization in 2003 in order to develop new projects to serve a greater number of children and youth through creative and therapeutic endeavors.
