Overall Experience
Extremely well-versed in local programs, yet keenly attuned to the individual and his/her needs
 |
Our organization, the Mama Maria Wellness Clinic (in Muhuru Bay, Kenya) is thrilled to be a member of the Village Volunteers Consortium. The Village Volunteers program has provided incalculable help and support as our organization grows and begins to thrive. Village Volunteers' knowledge of local programs and community leaders, as well as the needs, customs and types of support that best facilitate the disadvantaged of Africa -- from organic farming techniques to micro credit to ESL/educational assistance -- is unsurpassed. They are intimately involved with the people on the ground that are making a real, concrete and empowering difference in the lives of rural Africans. Village Volunteers is equally dedicated to the volunteer him/herself, from the moment of first contact till long after their return -- making sure that the experience they come away with is the most powerful and positive it can be ... for them, as well as those they live and work with, and come to love. posted by katrinakithene on April 21, 2005 |
